The bumblebee is aerodynamically unsuitable to fly, but nature has found a way despite its unfortunate wing to body size ratio.
Unlike other flying creatures, bumblebees flap their wings back and forth, not up and down. Much like how an airplane works, this creates vortices in the air like small hurricane. The eyes of these ‘mini-hurricanes’ have a lower pressure than the air outside, which lifts the bees upwards.
Because, after all, why should a tiny little insect not operate the same way as a boeing 747?
In the same way, we are only able to fly when we think bigger than our limitations. Our thinking directly predicts our capability.
